If you are travelling from Vietnam or another country that needs a visa for Europe, the Schengen visa is your key to Germany and 28 other countries. One visa covers Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France and most destinations in our tours. Here is how to prepare a strong application.
Where to apply
Apply at the embassy or visa centre of the country where you will spend the most nights. If the nights are equal, apply to the country you enter first. For our tours starting in Germany, this is usually the German embassy or its visa partner.
When to apply
You can apply up to six months before travel. We recommend applying two to three months ahead, especially before summer and Christmas, when appointments are hard to get. Processing normally takes about 15 days, but it can take longer in busy periods.
Documents you usually need
Requirements can change, so always check the latest list from the embassy. A typical application includes:
- A passport valid for at least three months after your return, with two blank pages
- The completed application form and biometric photos
- Travel medical insurance with at least 30,000 euros cover for the whole Schengen area
- Flight reservation and hotel confirmations for every night
- A day-by-day itinerary
- Proof of income: bank statements, employment letter or business licence
- For retirees and students, proof of pension or school enrolment
How EuroSky Tours helps
When you book a tour with us, we send you official hotel confirmations, a detailed itinerary on company letterhead and, if needed, a letter confirming your booking. Our team in Germany can answer questions from the embassy quickly.
Common mistakes to avoid
Do not buy non-refundable flights before your visa is approved, make sure the insurance dates cover the whole trip, and keep your documents consistent: the dates on your form, hotel bookings and itinerary should match exactly.
